This is from the slut walk. One of the arguments is that girls ask for rape because they wear slutty clothes, short skirts, tight, low-cut tops. This girl is an example of the fact that rape victims can look like anyone, you, me, this girl. Rapists. Dont. Discriminate.

I promised a long time ago that I’d reblog this whenever I saw it on my dash. No regrets, it breaks my heart every single time.

an incredibly important message, rape is rape. no one is ever asking for it. a woman has the right to dress how ever they want - it is society that identifies risque dressing as ‘asking for it’, and in my opinion, that way of thinking needs to be diminished.

Please stop using the phrase “krisis sa Mindanao” o “kaguluhan sa Mindanao” on your news reports. Mindanao is a very big island. While a tragedy indeed happened in Basilan, it is only a part of a big land area. It is a disservice to all who live in Mindanao in peace. People who are not from Mindanao tend to think that there’s chaos all over here in the island, when in fact there is none.

If a bombing happens in Makati or in Manila for instance, you would not call it a “Luzon crisis or problem”, would you? You have to be more sensitive and professional because media has the ability to affect the consciousness of the viewers.

You can help the country achieve what it desires. Choosing your words well in your news report is matters a whole lot.

“I am grateful to ABS-CBN but this is damn irresponsible. You do not go about propagating WAR. Especially if you can reach at least 80% of the population.”
“I condemn the ABS-CBN TV Patrol POLL dated October 20, 2011 for irresponsibly asking a complex question: “Papayag ba kayo na itigil na peace talks at mag ALL OUT WAR na laban sa MILF?” While 97% voted for YES, does this follow that 97% want to stop the peace talks AND at the same time launch an ALL OUT WAR against the MILF? Let us not allow a question to compromise the peace talks. NO to sensationalizing of news and complex questions. YES to fairness and accuracy of news! MEDIA, KNOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

misteravid: I have always hated the way we report news. It is vastly unfair to Muslims. As I said in a previous post: It pains my ear how they report such things on local news too, if a crime was committed by a Muslim, they are quick to point it out like “Isang Muslim ang nangholdap ng banko!” yet we never hear “isang Kristayano ang nang rape ng bata!”. It’s stupid & irresponsible.

    From Paulo Alcazaren (Facebook):

The CCP represents different things to different people. Everyone has a point of view …and are entitled to have such views …the CCP will survive …its strength lies in its capacity to be a vehicle of tolerance for all viewpoints, a canvas for expression of all shades, a mirror of our often unacknowledged realities, a frame for change …and always for the better
